Police Officer (Secret Service Police)

About This Role

This role involves providing protection for critical government facilities and personnel, including the White House Complex and Vice President's Residence. It also includes traveling to support Presidential and Vice Presidential missions.

Responsibilities

• Provide protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex
• Provide protection for foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area
• Travel in support of the Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions
• Enforce mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship
• Current valid U.S. driver's license
• At least 21 years old at the time of application
• Under 40 years old at referral (exceptions apply for federal law enforcement)
• Ability to carry and use a firearm and maintain proficiency
• Uncorrected visual acuity no worse than 20/100 binocular
• Corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye
• Hearing loss no more than 25 decibels in either ear at 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz ranges
• Ability to hear whispered voice at 15 feet with each ear without hearing aid
• Completion of 12 weeks of training at FLETC
• Completion of 17 weeks of specialized training at James J. Rowley Training Center
• Registration with the Selective Service System if male born after December 31, 1959
