This role involves protecting key governmental facilities and diplomatic missions in Washington D.C., and traveling to support Presidential and Vice-Presidential missions. Police Officers enforce mandated protective responsibilities under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A. The position requires relocation to Washington, DC.
Responsibilities
- Provide protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex
- Provide protection for foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area
- Travel in support of Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions
- Enforce mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- Current valid U.S. driver's license
- At least 21 years old at the time of application and under 40 at referral (exceptions may apply)
- Ability to carry and use a firearm
- Uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular
- Corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye
- Hearing loss not exceeding 25 decibels in either ear in the 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz ranges
- Ability to hear whispered voice at 15 feet with each ear without hearing aid
- Willingness to submit to drug tests
- Completion of 12 weeks of intensive training at FLETC
- Completion of 17 weeks of specialized training at James J. Rowley Training Center
- Registration with Selective Service System if born after December 31, 1959
