Police Officer (Secret Service Police)

About This Role

Serve as a Police Officer for the U.S. Secret Service, providing protection for high-profile government locations and individuals, and enforcing protective responsibilities. This role requires relocation to Washington, D.C. and involves intensive training.

Responsibilities

• Provide protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area
• Travel in support of Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions
• Enforce mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A
• Carry and use a firearm, maintaining proficiency
• Complete intensive training at the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) and specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center

Requirements

• U.S. citizenship
• Current valid U.S. driver's license
• At least 21 years old at time of application and under 40 at referral (exceptions apply for federal law enforcement)
• Ability to carry and use a firearm
• Uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular
• Corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye
• Hearing loss not exceeding 25 decibels in either ear in the 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz ranges
• Ability to hear whispered voice at 15 feet with each ear without hearing aid
• Submission to a drug test prior to appointment and random drug testing while in position
• Registration with the Selective Service System or exemption if male born after December 31, 1959
