About This Role

Serve as a Police Officer for the U.S. Secret Service, providing protection for high-profile locations and individuals while enforcing federal laws.

Responsibilities

  • Provide protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area.
  • Travel in support of Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions.
  • Enforce mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A.

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship
  • Current valid U.S. driver's license
  • At least 21 years old at application and under 40 at referral (exceptions apply)
  • Ability to carry and use a firearm and maintain proficiency
  • Meet visual acuity requirements (20/100 uncorrected binocular, 20/20 corrected each eye)
  • Meet hearing loss requirements (not exceeding 25 decibels in 500, 1000, 2000 Hz ranges, hear whispered voice at 15 ft)
  • Ability to complete 12 weeks of intensive training at FLETC and 17 weeks of specialized training at James J. Rowley Training Center
  • Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must be registered with the Selective Service System or be exempt
