About This Role

This role protects critical government facilities and personnel, including the White House Complex and foreign diplomatic missions.

Responsibilities

  • Provide protection for the White House Complex, the Vice President's Residence, and the Main Treasury Building and Annex
  • Provide protection for foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area
  • Travel in support of Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions
  • Enforce mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A

Requirements

  • U.S. citizenship is required
  • Possess a current valid U.S. driver's license
  • Must be at least 21 years old at the time of application
  • Must be under 40 at referral (exceptions apply for federal law enforcement)
  • Ability to carry and use a firearm
  • Possess uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular
  • Possess corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye
  • Hearing loss must not exceed 25 decibels in either ear in the 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz ranges
  • Ability to hear whispered voice at 15 feet with each ear without a hearing aid
  • Ability to complete 12 weeks of intensive training at FLETC
  • Ability to complete 17 weeks of specialized training at the James J. Rowley Training Center
  • Registered with the Selective Service System or exempt (if male born after December 31, 1959)
