This role involves providing protection for critical government facilities and personnel, including The White House Complex, the Vice President's Residence, and foreign diplomatic missions in Washington, D.C. It requires travel in support of presidential and vice presidential missions.
Responsibilities
- Provide protection for The White House Complex, The Vice President's Residence, The Main Treasury Building and Annex, and foreign diplomatic missions and embassies in the Washington, D.C. area
- Travel in support of Presidential, Vice Presidential, and foreign heads of state/government missions
- Enforce mandated protective responsibilities as described under Title 18, United States Code, Section 3056A
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship
- Current valid U.S. driver's license
- At least 21 years old at the time of application and under 40 at referral
- Ability to carry and use a firearm and maintain proficiency
- Uncorrected visual acuity of no worse than 20/100 binocular
- Corrected visual acuity of 20/20 or better in each eye
- Hearing loss not exceeding 25 decibels in either ear in the 500, 1000, and 2000 Hz ranges
- Ability to hear whispered voice at 15 feet with each ear without hearing aid
- Submission to a drug test prior to appointment and random drug testing
- Completion of 12 weeks of intensive training at FLETC and 17 weeks of specialized training at James J. Rowley Training Center
- Registration with the Selective Service System or exemption for male applicants born after December 31, 1959
