Police Officer Lateral

About This Role

Perform law enforcement and crime prevention work to protect life and property within the City of Tustin. This role involves patrolling assigned areas, responding to calls, investigating crimes, and enforcing state and local laws.

Responsibilities

• Patrol assigned areas in a radio-equipped vehicle or on foot
• Answer calls for assistance from the public
• Make arrests and issues citations for violations of laws or ordinances
• Investigate misdemeanors and felonies
• Secure and preserve crime scenes and evidence
• Investigate traffic accidents and enforce traffic laws
• Conduct interviews with victims, witnesses, and suspects
• Testify in court, often during off-duty hours
• Provide information to the general public and maintain good relationships with the public
• Escort and transport prisoners
• Prepare comprehensive reports and field notes
• Render first aid to the injured in emergency situations

Requirements

• 21 years of age at time of appointment
• Satisfactory driving record
• Successfully completed an approved California Basic Police Academy
• Currently employed as a Police Officer, or employed as a Police Officer within the last six months
• Legally authorized to work in the United States
• Free from conviction of a felony or serious misdemeanor
• Excellent physical condition, normal hearing, vision 20/100 correctable to 20/20, normal color vision

Qualifications

• High school graduation or equivalent required. Successfully completed an approved California Basic Police Academy.
• Currently employed as a Police Officer, or employed as a Police Officer within the last six months.
