Phlebotomist/Registrar

About This Role

This role is responsible for performing venipunctures and related procedures, accurately identifying patients, test orders, and test requirements within a laboratory setting. The Phlebotomist/Registrar plays a crucial part in the overall function of the laboratory and patient satisfaction by coordinating and processing all specimens with precision.

Responsibilities

• Perform venipunctures and related procedures proficiently
• Accurately identify patients, test orders, and test requirements
• Coordinate and process all specimens
• Ensure accurate patient and specimen identification
• Accurately order tests and label tubes and specimens
• Collect specimens from patients of all ages
• Teach students phlebotomy skills

Requirements

• Phlebotomy trained
• One year of experience as a phlebotomist
• Proven typing ability (40 wpm)
• Computer skills
• Demonstrated strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to speak the English language in a clearly understandable manner
• Demonstrated strong organizational skills

Qualifications

• One year of experience as a phlebotomist; one year of experience in a hospital environment preferred.

Nice to Have

• One year of experience in a hospital environment
• Ability to troubleshoot/maintain proper operation of business equipment
• A valid Mass driver’s license
