Pharmacy Technician / Pharmacy Tech Apprenticeship

About This Role

As a Pharmacy Technician or Apprentice, you will engage with customers, process prescriptions, and assist pharmacists, transitioning from transaction-based to patient-centric care. This role provides an 'earn while you learn' PTCB certification program to advance your healthcare career.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them, offering assistance, resolving issues, and answering questions.
• Review and comply with the Walgreen Co. Pharmacy Code of Conduct.
• Perform duties including entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, and checking for possible interactions.
• Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to Company policies and the Quality Improvement Program.
• Strictly adhere to Walgreens' Good Faith Dispensing policy.
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required.
• Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist.
• Process manual claims for third-party program prescription services and perform other clerical duties.
• Assist and support Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities.
• Maintain knowledge of Company asset protection techniques and file claims for overages, shortages, or damaged goods.
• Assist pharmacists in administering clinical services, including collection and labeling of blood/urine samples.
• Assist Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining relationships with the local medical community.
• Ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat, and orderly.
• Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico)
• Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours

Nice to Have

• Six months of experience in a retail environment
• Prior work experience with Walgreens
• Good math skills
• Good computer skills
• Knowledge of store inventory control
