Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

About This Role

This role is a patient-centric Pharmacy Technician position at Walgreens, focusing on customer interaction and developing strong patient relationships while leveraging the latest technology. This apprenticeship program helps individuals become a Pharmacy Technician Certification Board (PTCB) Certified Pharmacy Technician.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations and Company policies and procedures.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services.
• Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience.
• Perform duties including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, verifying medicine, and checking for possible interactions.
• Report prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adhere to Company policies and procedures.
• Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist.
• Process manual claims for third-party program prescription services and perform other clerical duties.
• Assist and support Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities.
• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program or state required certification/registration.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico)
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours

Nice to Have

• Six months of experience in a retail environment
• Prior work experience with Walgreens
• Good math skills for accurate prescription filling
• Good computer skills
• Knowledge of store inventory control
• PTCB certification
