Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

About This Role

This role involves assisting pharmacists, interacting with customers, processing prescriptions, and contributing to inventory management within a retail pharmacy setting. It includes an 'earn while you learn' apprenticeship program to achieve PTCB certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy, under direct supervision, in accordance with state and federal regulations
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions
• Model and deliver a distinctive and delightful customer experience by greeting customers, offering assistance, and resolving issues
• Perform duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager, including filling prescriptions and checking for interactions
• Report prescription errors to pharmacist on duty immediately and adhere to Company policies and procedures
• Process manual claims for third party program prescription services and perform other clerical duties
• Assist and support Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking and storing pharmaceuticals
• Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services, including collection and proper labeling of blood/urine samples
• Assist Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining relationships with the local medical community
• Maintain knowledge and skills in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico)
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours

Qualifications

• New to working in pharmacies or experienced Pharmacy Technician

Nice to Have

• Six months of experience in a retail environment
• Prior work experience with Walgreens
• Good math skills for accurate prescription filling
• Good computer skills
• Knowledge of store inventory control
• PTCB certification
