Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

About This Role

This role involves assisting pharmacists in daily operations, focusing on patient interaction and prescription processing, while gaining skills to become a certified pharmacy technician through an earn-while-you-learn apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy, under direct supervision, in accordance with state and federal regulations
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services
• Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience
• Enter patient and drug information into pharmacy systems and ensure information is entered correctly
• Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine, and checking for possible interactions
• Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to Company policies and procedures
• Process telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians
• Assist and support Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals
• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program

Requirements

• Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours

Nice to Have

• Six months of experience in a retail environment
• Prior work experience with Walgreens
• Good math skills
• Good computer skills
• Knowledge of store inventory control
