Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

About This Role

This role involves assisting pharmacists in providing patient-centered care, processing prescriptions, and delivering excellent customer service, while participating in an "earn while you learn" Pharmacy Technician Training Program to achieve PTCB certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy, under direct supervision, in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policies.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient/drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers by greeting them, offering assistance, resolving issues, and answering questions.
• Enter patient and drug information into pharmacy systems and accurately fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring medications.
• Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist.
• Process manual claims for third party program prescription services and perform other clerical duties.
• Assist with inventory management activities including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceuticals.
• Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services, such as collecting and labeling blood/urine samples.
• Assist in maintaining relationships with the local medical community through detailing and outreach.
• Ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked, clean, neat, and orderly in condition and appearance.

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours

Nice to Have

• Six months of experience in a retail environment
• Prior work experience with Walgreens
• Good math skills for accurate prescription filling
• Good computer skills
• Knowledge of store inventory control
• PTCB certification
