Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

About This Role

This role is a patient-centric Pharmacy Technician position at Walgreens, focusing on customer interaction and relationship building within the pharmacy. It includes an 'earn while you learn' apprenticeship program to become a certified Pharmacy Technician.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services
• Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience
• Perform duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information
• Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying medicine is correct, and checking for possible interactions
• Report prescription errors to pharmacist on duty immediately and adhere to Company policies and procedures in relation to pharmacy errors and the Quality Improvement Program
• Process manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner
• Assist and support Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as, ordering, unpacking, checking and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals
• Assist with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies, clean, neat and orderly in condition and appearance

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English
• Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours

Nice to Have

• Six months of experience in a retail environment
• Prior work experience with Walgreens
• Good math skills to fill prescriptions accurately
• Good computer skills
• Knowledge of store inventory control
• PTCB certification
