Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

About This Role

This role will transition from transactional pharmacy tasks to a patient-centric environment, focusing on customer interaction and developing strong patient relationships.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy, under direct supervision, in accordance with state and federal regulations
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services
• Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience
• Perform duties including utilizing pharmacy systems to enter patient and drug information, filling prescriptions, and checking for possible interactions
• Report prescription errors to the pharmacist on duty immediately and adhere to Company policies and procedures
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash as required
• Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist
• Process manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner
• Assist and support Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipment of pharmaceuticals
• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through a designated training program or state required certification/registration
• Attend training requested by Manager and acquire continuing education credits

Requirements

• Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours

Nice to Have

• Six months of experience in a retail environment
• Prior work experience with Walgreens
• Good math skills for accurate prescription filling (counting, measuring, weighing medications)
• Good computer skills
• Knowledge of store inventory control
