Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

About This Role

Assist pharmacists in the practice of pharmacy, focusing on patient interaction, prescription processing, and customer service. This role offers an apprenticeship program to achieve PTCB certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions
• Model and deliver distinctive customer experience, engaging customers and resolving issues
• Enter patient and drug information into pharmacy systems, ensuring accuracy
• Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying correctness
• Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register, collect and handle cash
• Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist
• Process manual claims for third party program prescription services
• Assist and support Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities
• Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services, including sample collection
• Maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments

Requirements

• Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours

Nice to Have

• Six months of experience in a retail environment
• Prior work experience with Walgreens
• Good math skills for accurate prescription filling
• Good computer skills
• Knowledge of store inventory control
• PTCB certification
