Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

About This Role

As a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will interact with customers, develop patient relationships, and use pharmacy systems to process prescriptions. Walgreens offers an ASHP & Department of Labor recognized "earn while you learn" apprenticeship program.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients, offering assistance with products and services, and resolving issues.
• Perform duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager, including filling prescriptions.
• Report prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adhere to Company policies.
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register and handle cash.
• Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist.
• Process manual claims for third party program prescription services.
• Assist and support Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities.
• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program.

Requirements

• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours

Nice to Have

• Six months of experience in a retail environment
• Prior work experience with Walgreens
• Good math skills for accurate prescription filling
• Good computer skills
• Knowledge of store inventory control
• PTCB certification
