Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

About This Role

Assist pharmacists in the practice of pharmacy, process prescriptions, and provide a distinctive customer experience in a fast-paced retail environment. This role is part of an "earn while you learn" apprenticeship program aimed at PTCB certification.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and accurately process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them, offering assistance, and resolving issues to ensure a positive experience.
• Perform duties including entering patient/drug information, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring drugs, verifying medicine, and checking for interactions.
• Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians.
• Process manual claims for third party program prescription services in a timely and efficient manner.
• Assist and support Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing shipments.
• Maintain knowledge of Company asset protection techniques and file claims for merchandise discrepancies.
• Assist with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked, clean, neat, and orderly.
• Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager.

Requirements

• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico)
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours

Nice to Have

• Six months of experience in a retail environment
• Prior work experience with Walgreens
• Good math skills for accurate prescription filling
• Good computer skills
• Knowledge of store inventory control
• PTCB certification

Certifications
