Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

About This Role

This role is for a Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice to provide patient-centric care at Walgreens. It offers an 'earn while you learn' apprenticeship program to become a PTCB Certified Pharmacy Technician.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist under direct supervision in the practice of pharmacy, following state, federal, and company regulations.
• Utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient information, process prescriptions, and enter drug details.
• Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying accuracy, and checking for interactions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them, offering assistance, resolving issues, and answering questions.
• Model and share customer service best practices, including interpersonal habits and Walgreens service traits.
• Handle telephone calls that do not require a pharmacist's personal attention, including calls to physicians.
• Process manual claims for third-party program prescription services in a timely manner.
• Assist and support the Pharmacy Department in inventory management activities, such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceuticals.
• Assist with exterior and interior maintenance to ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked, clean, neat, and orderly.
• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program or state required certification/registration.

Requirements

• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours

Qualifications

• Entry-level or experienced Pharmacy Technician

Nice to Have

• Six months of experience in a retail environment
• Prior work experience with Walgreens
• Good math skills for filling prescriptions accurately
• Good computer skills
• Knowledge of store inventory control
• PTCB certification
