Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

Participate in an "earn while you learn" program to become a PTCB Certified Pharmacy Technician and maintain high-level skills in pharmacy care.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy, under direct supervision, in accordance with state and federal regulations
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient/drug information and process prescriptions
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance
• Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience
• Perform duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager, including entering patient/drug information, filling prescriptions, and verifying medicine
• Report prescription errors to pharmacist on duty immediately and adhere to Company policies and procedures for quality improvement
• Process manual claims for third party program prescription services and perform other clerical duties as assigned
• Assist and support Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities
• Maintain knowledge over healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments
• Attend required training and acquire continuing education credits

Requirements

• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico)
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours

Nice to Have

• Six months of experience in a retail environment
• Prior work experience with Walgreens
• Good math skills for accurate prescription filling (counting, measuring, weighing medications)
• Good computer skills
• Knowledge of store inventory control
• PTCB certification
