Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

About This Role

As a Walgreens Pharmacy Technician or Pharmacy Technician Apprentice, you will interact directly with customers, developing strong patient relationships and assisting the pharmacist in providing patient-centric care. This role involves utilizing pharmacy systems, processing prescriptions, and contributing to the overall efficiency and customer experience of the pharmacy operations.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy, in accordance with state and federal regulations and company policies.
• Utilize pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions.
• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services, resolving issues, and answering questions.
• Perform duties including entering patient and drug information, filling prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring medications, and verifying correctness.
• Assist pharmacists in scheduling and maintaining workflow, reporting prescription errors, and adhering to the Quality Improvement Program.
• Process manual claims for third party program prescription services and handle telephone calls not requiring pharmacist attention.
• Support inventory management activities such as ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceuticals.
• Assist in developing and maintaining relationships with the local medical community through detailing and outreach activities.
• Ensure the Pharmacy Department is stocked with adequate supplies, and is clean, neat, and orderly.
• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated PTCB training program and/or state required certification/registration.

Requirements

• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours

Nice to Have

• Six months of experience in a retail environment
• Prior work experience with Walgreens
• Good math skills for accurate prescription filling
• Good computer skills
• Knowledge of store inventory control
