Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

About This Role

This role involves assisting pharmacists in patient-centric pharmacy operations, utilizing pharmacy systems to process prescriptions, and delivering excellent customer service. You will also develop professional skills through a recognized apprenticeship program to become a certified pharmacy technician.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist, under direct supervision, in the practice of pharmacy in accordance with state and federal regulations
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions
• Engage customers and patients, offering assistance with products and services, and resolving issues to ensure a positive customer experience
• Perform duties as assigned by Pharmacy Manager, Staff Pharmacist and Store Manager, including filling prescriptions and verifying medicine
• Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty
• Handle telephone calls that do not require the personal attention of the pharmacist
• Process manual claims for third party program prescription services
• Assist and support Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities
• Assist pharmacist in administering clinical services, including the collection of blood/urine samples from patients
• Assist with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked, clean, neat, and orderly
• Earn and maintain PTCB certification through the designated training program

Requirements

• Fluency in reading, writing, and speaking English
• Willingness to work a flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours

Nice to Have

• Six months of experience in a retail environment
• Prior work experience with Walgreens
• Good math skills for accurate prescription filling
• Good computer skills
• Knowledge of store inventory control
• PTCB certification
