Pharmacy Technician / Pharm Tech Apprenticeship

About This Role

This role will support pharmacists in providing patient-centric care by processing prescriptions, assisting customers, and maintaining pharmacy operations, while participating in an accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program to become a certified Pharmacy Technician.

Responsibilities

• Assist the pharmacist in the practice of pharmacy, under direct supervision, in accordance with state and federal regulations
• Use pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions
• Engage customers and patients, offering assistance with products and services and resolving issues
• Model and share customer service best practices with all team members
• Fill prescriptions by retrieving, counting, and pouring pharmaceutical drugs, verifying accuracy, and checking for interactions
• Report prescription errors immediately to the pharmacist on duty and adhere to Company policies regarding errors and Quality Improvement
• Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist
• Process manual claims for third-party program prescription services
• Assist with inventory management activities, including ordering, unpacking, checking, and storing pharmaceuticals
• Assist Pharmacy Manager and Staff Pharmacist in developing and maintaining good relationships with the local medical community

Requirements

• Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English
• Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours

Qualifications

• New to working in pharmacies or an experienced Pharmacy Technician

Nice to Have

• Six months of experience in a retail environment
• Prior work experience with Walgreens
• Good math skills for accurate prescription filling
• Good computer skills
• Knowledge of store inventory control
• PTCB certification
