This role manages the day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations, administrative activities, and ensures efficient workflow and a positive patient experience while supervising pharmacy technicians and cashiers. The manager is responsible for the selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel, leading their training, coaching, and performance management.
Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities, ensuring efficient pharmacy workflow and a positive patient experience.
- Serve as a full-time certified pharmacy technician, operating pharmacy systems to process prescriptions.
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and pharmacy cashiers, making decisions regarding their performance management, including discipline and termination.
- Engage customers and patients, resolve complaints, and respond to requests to ensure a positive customer experience.
- Assist pharmacists in patient care delivery, including registration, data entry, medication preparation, counting, and verifying.
- Delegate, direct, and assign non-clinical work in the pharmacy, ensuring tasks are completed on time.
- Manage core pharmacy workflow, coordinate daily activities, and recommend allocation of pharmacy hours.
- Ensure compliance and execution of business administrative activities and pharmacy inventory management without requiring pharmacist licensure.
- Drive new technology and process rollouts, championing change and engaging the team in action planning.
- Process insurance claims accurately to resolve customer issues and prevent payment rejections.
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico)
- 1 year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico)
- Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours
- Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire (except in Community Specialty Pharmacy and Health System Pharmacy locations)
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- 1 year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting
Nice to Have
- Previous people management/leadership experience
- Previous work experience with Walgreens with an Exceeding Expectation on last performance evaluation
