This role is responsible for overseeing day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations, ensuring efficient workflow and a positive patient experience, and serving as a certified pharmacy technician. It involves managing pharmacy systems, supervising technicians and cashiers, and leading their selection, scheduling, and development.
Responsibilities
- Perform day-to-day non-clinical pharmacy operations and administrative activities, ensuring efficient workflow and positive patient experience
- Operate pharmacy systems to obtain patient and drug information and process prescriptions
- Supervise pharmacy technicians and pharmacy cashiers within company guidelines, laws, and regulations
- Responsible for the selection, scheduling, and development of pharmacy technician personnel
- Lead training, coaching, and performance management of pharmacy technicians, including discipline and termination decisions
- Engage customers and patients, resolving complaints and answering non-clinical questions to ensure a positive experience
- Assist pharmacist in patient care delivery, including registration, data entry, medication preparation, and administering vaccines/health screenings where allowed
- Delegate, direct, and assign non-clinical work in the pharmacy, ensuring tasks are completed on-time
- Manage core pharmacy workflow, coordinate daily schedules, and assure cleanliness and adequate supplies
- Ensure compliance and execution of business administrative activities and pharmacy inventory management tasks not requiring pharmacist licensure
Requirements
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- PTCB or ExCPT certification (except in Puerto Rico)
- One year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting
- Fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (except in Puerto Rico)
- Willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours
- Willingness to obtain active immunization certification within 90 days of hire
Qualifications
- High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent
- 1 year of work experience as a pharmacy technician in a retail or hospital setting
Nice to Have
- Previous people management/leadership experience
- Previous work experience with Walgreens with an Exceeding Expectation on last performance evaluation
