Pharmacy Intern

About This Role

Learn to provide an excellent patient experience by assisting the pharmacist and pharmacy team members in accordance with state and federal regulations. Utilize pharmacy systems to manage patient and prescription information, while modeling and delivering delightful customer service.

Responsibilities

• Engage customers and patients by greeting them and offering assistance with products and services
• Resolve customer issues and answer questions to ensure a positive customer experience
• Model and share customer service best practices with team members
• Assist in the practice of pharmacy, under supervision of a pharmacist, in accordance with state, federal, and company policy
• Perform duties as assigned and supervised by the pharmacist for entering, third party processing, filling, and dispensing prescriptions
• Assist pharmacists and other healthcare providers in delivering patient care and services within the state scope of practice, including patient counseling and health services
• Immediately report prescription errors to pharmacist on duty and adhere to Company policies and procedures
• Strictly adhere to the Walgreen Co. policy regarding Good Faith Dispensing
• Register all related sales on assigned cash register, collect and handle cash as required
• Handle telephone calls that do not require personal attention of the pharmacist, including those to physicians
• Assist and support Pharmacy Department on inventory management activities
• Maintain knowledge of Company asset protection techniques and file claims for overages, shortages, order errors or damaged goods
• Assist with exterior and interior maintenance by ensuring the Pharmacy Department is stocked, clean, neat, and orderly
• Comply with all company policies and procedures and maintain respectful relationships with coworkers
• Complete special assignments and other tasks as assigned
• Complete required training
• Maintain knowledge and skill in healthcare and pharmacy, including latest news and developments

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in a school of Pharmacy program
• Must be fluent in reading, writing, and speaking English (Except in Puerto Rico)
• Requires willingness to work flexible schedule, including evening and weekend hours
