Pay Station Clerk

About This Role

Provide friendly and efficient customer service at the pay station, operate the cash register accurately, and assist with maintaining cleanliness and supplies in the grocery department.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, efficient and friendly customer service, treating customers as the most important people in the store
• Smile and greet customers in a friendly manner, learning names when possible
• Assist customers by noting suggestions and enhancing the shopping experience
• Answer telephones promptly and provide helpful service
• Work collaboratively with co-workers to ensure customer satisfaction
• Operate cash register accurately, scan products, and report improper cash levels
• Redeem coupons, process various payment types, calculate discounts, count back change, and issue receipts
• Place merchandise in bags or boxes and provide packages to customers
• Ensure adequate supply of silverware, condiments, and beverage cups
• Refill and maintain coffee service area supplies
• Maintain a clean and neat work area, practicing proper sanitation procedures

Requirements

• Ability to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or verbal instructions
• Ability to perform arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages
• Ability to make change
• Ability to understand and follow verbal/demonstrated instructions
