The Service Manager provides prompt, efficient, and friendly customer service while supervising and coordinating the activities of employees across all job levels within the store. This role maintains positive employee relations, ensures proper customer service, and enforces safety procedures.
Responsibilities
- Maintain a positive attitude and create an atmosphere of friendliness through teamwork
- Provide prompt, courteous, and efficient service to customers by exhibiting caring, concern, and patience
- Assist customers by escorting them to products, securing out-of-reach items, loading heavy items, and noting suggestions
- Answer telephones promptly and provide helpful service to customers
- Perform as a leader and role model, maintaining positive employee relations
- Plan, prepare, and adjust work schedules, assigning employees to specific duties and following up on completion
- Supervise and coordinate employee activities across all store areas (in Department Managers' absence)
- Formulate pricing philosophies or merchandise following guidelines established by the Store Director
- Ensure proper customer service throughout the store and address specific customer issues
- Evaluate employee performance and recommend personnel actions like promotion, transfer, or dismissal
- Train and enforce safety procedures to provide a safe and healthy work environment, filling out customer accident forms
- Work safely to prevent on-the-job injuries, fill out first reports of injury, and assign light duty as necessary
- Compile, store, retrieve, and understand managerial data (e.g., sales, inventory reports)
- Order merchandise, verify delivery, ensure quality, compare records, and report discrepancies
- Train workers in store policies, department procedures, and job duties
- Ensure compliance of employees with established policies, security, sales, and record-keeping procedures
- Determine the location of ad and promotional displays, ensuring product quality and quantities to meet demands and profitability
- Confer with employees and assist in solving problems affecting job performance and adherence to policies
- Explain store services to potential personal and business account customers to generate additional business
- Understand the basics of store accounting
- Maintain strict adherence to department and company guidelines related to personal hygiene and dress
- Adhere to company policies and individual store guidelines
- Report to work when scheduled and on time
Requirements
- Ability to solve practical problems with variety of variables and interpret instructions
- Ability to do arithmetic calculations involving fractions, decimals, and percentages
Qualifications
- High School or equivalent experience
- Two years or more of similar or related work experience preferred
