Patient Services Specialist

About This Role

As a Patient Services Specialist, you will be the first point of contact for patients, handling greetings, inquiries, and administrative tasks. This role ensures smooth patient flow and maintains accurate records in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Greet and welcome patients and visitors in a friendly and professional manner
• Respond to patient and caregivers' inquiries compassionately and respectfully
• Collect and process necessary forms, such as insurance details, medical histories, and consent forms
• Collect co-pays, process payments, and verify insurance information for billing purposes
• Communicate with patients, radiologists, or technologists regarding patient needs or appointment changes
• Update and maintain accurate patient files, both physical and electronic, while ensuring confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA regulations
• Answer phone calls and relay messages
• Assist with administrative tasks including filing, faxing, and scanning documents

• High school diploma or equivalent

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• 2+ years related experience preferred

Nice to Have

• 2+ years related experience
• Prior healthcare experience
• Knowledge of healthcare insurance plans, medical terminology, and billing processes
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and patient confidentiality standards
• Familiarity with Electronic Health Records (EHR) systems and insurance verification software
