Patient Services Specialist

About This Role

Serve as the initial point of contact for patients, managing calls, scheduling, check-ins, and check-outs to ensure excellent patient service in a physical therapy setting.

Responsibilities

• Answer phones promptly, courteously, and helpfully, screening and routing calls as needed
• Create phone notes in the patient electronic medical record
• Provide information to patients
• Greet, Check In, and Check Out patients, delivering excellent patient service
• Manage schedules and assist with insurance verification and other physical therapy insurance requirements
• Support physical therapy staff by keeping the front desk organized and running smoothly
• Assist in indexing patient documents to the correct patient chart
• Assist in routing electronic faxes to the correct location fax folder and/or uploading to the correct patient chart

Requirements

• Excellent customer / patient service
• Knowledge of medical terminology
• Working knowledge of computer programs
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to understand and perform training on practice management software
• Ability to continue to expand knowledge of practice management software as updates occur
• Ability to follow all Standard Operating Procedures
• High School diploma or GED

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED
• Entry-level; at least one year of medical office experience preferred

Nice to Have

• At least one year of medical office experience
• Bilingual
• Basic phone handling skills - Contact Center experience
• Basic knowledge of insurance plans and the specialty referral process
