Patient Services Specialist

About This Role

The Patient Services Specialist provides professional and courteous service to patients and performs accurate data entry. This role is integral to delivering high-quality eye care by handling customer service and administrative functions.

Responsibilities

• Converse over the telephone with patients, showing concern and care for their situation
• Operate telephone lines to answer, screen calls, provide information, take messages, and schedule appointments
• Schedule and confirm patient diagnostic appointments, exams, or medical consultations
• Collect insurance and demographic data with accuracy and speed
• Verify insurance eligibility for vision and medical plans using online resources and software
• Advise patients of copays, deductibles, and out-of-pocket expenses due at time of service
• Work multiple reports and spreadsheets to reschedule and monitor patient appointments
• Operate office equipment and use word processing, spreadsheet, or other software applications
• Receive payment and record receipts for services, balancing payments within the system daily
• Travel to satellite clinics for assistance when needed

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous customer service experience
• Excellent communication skills
• Strong analytical skills
• Strong interpersonal and relationship building skills
• Able to work independently & effectively in a team environment
• Strong organization and planning skills
• Ability to work effectively with the public

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent
• Previous customer service experience required. Previous experience using EHR and EMP is preferred.
