About This Role

Serve as a Patient Care Technician on a patient care team in the Neuro/Trauma ICU, providing direct patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse and performing duties of a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA).

Responsibilities

  • Recognize and react to emergency procedures per role and policies/procedures
  • Answer telephones and assigned communication devices, relaying necessary information
  • Assist in collecting specific patient information and contribute to admission, transfer, and dismissal processes
  • Perform and document routine direct nursing care tasks according to identified age-specific needs
  • Obtain and record vitals, height, weight, and bedside glucose results, reporting to appropriate personnel
  • Perform Activities of Daily Living (ADLs) for assigned patients and document in the EMR
  • Label and secure patient care belongings, ensuring the patient room is safe and uncluttered
  • Distribute patient's meals/water and assist with feeding as needed
  • Assist with ambulation, lifting, and positioning according to procedure, including patient lift devices and body mechanics
  • Assist patients with elimination needs and measure/record bodily elimination in medical record

Requirements

  • Active Nebraska Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) credential
  • Basic Life Support (CPR) certification
  • Knowledge of computer equipment and software applications relevant to work functions
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient information
  • Ability to practice proper body mechanics
  • Ability to prioritize work demands and work with minimal supervision
  • Ability to maintain regular and punctual attendance

Qualifications

  • Six (6) months CNA experience preferred.

Certifications

Basic Life Support - CPR (Required) Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) (Required)
