Nutrition and Dining Services Technician II

About This Role

This role involves performing food production, serving, and meal delivery duties, while also assisting patients with meal selections and coordinating menu options using NDS software in a healthcare setting.

Responsibilities

• Perform food production, serving duties, and meal delivery to patients and care areas
• Interact with patients and assist with diet/meal selections according to diet prescription and preferences
• Perform retail/sales duties, accurately operating cash registers and reconciling cash
• Assemble food items for cafeteria and patient meal service
• Coordinate menu selections for patients and complete menu system processes using NDS software
• Set up and supply service lines, vending operations, and Physicians Lounge with food and supplies
• Serve customers efficiently and courteously in retail, physician, and catering operations
• Clean assigned work areas, equipment, and perform dish/pan/utensil washing
• Orients new staff members in specified areas of responsibility and provides training in equipment use and procedural details

Requirements

• Knowledge of food service preparation methods and practices
• Knowledge of food nutrition, specialized diets and dietary recommendations
• Knowledge of computer hardware equipment and software applications relevant to work functions
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with all levels of personnel, medical staff, volunteer and ancillary departments including diverse patient populations
• Ability to safely operate applicable kitchen and hospital equipment (e.g., trayline assembly conveyor, mobile food equipment)
• Ability to operate a cash register and reconcile cash with documented transactions
• Must be 16 years of age or older
