The Certified Medical Assistant will assist Licensed Healthcare Providers and nurses with various patient care, clerical, environmental, and organizational tasks. This role involves supporting remote clinic sites through order entry and chart completion in the Electronic Health Record (EHR) while collaborating with staff to achieve quality patient care.
Responsibilities
- Perform nursing care and assist providers with examinations and procedures as assigned
- Facilitate patient flow in accordance with appointment times to minimize delays
- Greet and room patients, take vital signs, update patient history, and prepare patients for examinations/procedures
- Enter clinical documentation, orders, and results from outstate clinics into the EHR
- Instruct patients and families about tests, procedures, medications, and health-related issues
- Assist patients in pursuing preauthorization for Repatha and PCSK9 based on protocol
- Document patient interactions, results, questions, concerns, and medication changes in a timely manner
- Respond to calls from patients, pharmacies, hospitals, and medical offices in a timely manner
- Coordinate with assigned RN for care beyond practice scope, including triage and follow up
- Organize medication sample storage and check for outdates
Requirements
- Current certification as a Certified Medical Assistant (CMA), Clinical Certified Medical Assistant (CCMA), or a Registered Medical Assistant (RMA)
- High School diploma or equivalency
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalency is required. Graduation from a Medical Assistant program accredited by the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools preferred.
- Minimum of one (1) year work experience as a medical assistant in a relevant clinical setting is preferred, clinic and cardiovascular experience is preferred.
