Certified Medical Assistant

About This Role

The Medical Assistant provides essential patient care, including escorting patients, taking vitals, performing treatments, and administering medications, while also managing accurate recordkeeping and scheduling to support overall patient flow.

Responsibilities

• Assure smooth, timely patient flow by escorting patients to exam rooms
• Interview patient, measure vital signs, and document information in patient's chart/EHR
• Perform treatments, tests, or procedures
• Administer medication as directed
• Assist Physician/Nurse Practitioner as directed
• Accurately and efficiently report/document patient care/status/information in medical record
• Receive patient record(s) from external sources and refer to Physician/Nurse Practitioner for review
• Responsible for screening and handling incoming telephone calls as directed
• Schedule patient testing, consult, and/or referrals
• Provide patient/family teaching necessary for continuing care during and after discharge

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent
• National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA)-NCTT OR Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)-AAMA OR Registered Medical Assistant
• CPR Certification (American Heart Association-AHA)
• Knowledge of various medical terminology
• Good written and verbal communication skills
• Excellent organizational skills
• Working knowledge of basic computers and computer software
• Interaction with a patient population of all ages ranging from neonates to geriatrics

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED Equivalent or equivalent.
• Minimum of 1 year experience in a healthcare related field. Preferred

Nice to Have

• Minimum of 1 year experience in a healthcare related field
• Knowledge of Electronic Heath Record Systems
