About This Role

Provide supervised healthcare services to patients and perform administrative and clinical support duties for Student Health Services at Augusta University. This role focuses on direct patient care, documentation, and participation in safety and quality processes to foster positive patient outcomes.

Responsibilities

  • Provide patient care including rooming patients, measuring vital signs, taking chief complaints, venipuncture, injections, and immunizations
  • Perform dressing changes and CLIA-waived in-house testing
  • Set up and assist providers during sensitive exams and all office procedures
  • Maintain rooms by established infection control principles
  • Provide education and guidance on health topics and immunizations
  • Schedule appointments, check patients in and out, and answer telephones
  • Communicate with administrative and clinical staff on health related topics
  • Document patient care in electronic health records, including lab results, progress notes, and consents
  • Participate in clinic safety and quality processes, including cleaning examination rooms and monitoring inventory

Requirements

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years of experience in administrative and clinical support within an outpatient primary setting
  • A recognized Medical Assistant Credential (CCMA, AAMA, MedCa, RMA/NCMA, NCRMA)
  • Current American Heart Association Healthcare Provider BLS/BCLS certification
  • Awareness of infection prevention policies
  • Proficient technology skills with multiple platforms (Microsoft, Adobe, EHR)
  • Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work within a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrates excellent customer service attitude
  • Detail oriented with ability to complete delegated tasks on time, and attention to accuracy

Qualifications

  • High School diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Minimum of two years of experience in administrative and clinical support within an outpatient primary setting

Nice to Have

  • Experience working supervised in an outpatient healthcare clinic among a multidisciplinary team
  • Experience using an electronic health record for documentation and e-prescribing as a provider agent
  • Experience in recognizing emergent symptoms of patient decompensation/instability and performing Basic Life Support CPR
  • Experience in administering vaccines, oral, subcutaneous and intramuscular medications
  • Experience with immunizations in children and adults
