Certified Medical Assistant

About This Role

This role involves assisting urgent care providers with patient examinations and treatments, managing patient registration, and ensuring the smooth operation of the urgent care center.

Responsibilities

• Assist in examination and treatment of patients under the direction of an urgent care provider
• Manage the check-in and registration process
• Interview patients, measure vital signs (pulse rate, temperature, blood pressure, weight, and height)
• Record information on patients' charts
• Draw and collect blood samples from patients and prepare specimens for laboratory analysis (if required)
• Prepare treatment rooms for examination of patients
• Conduct patient registration, including securing required paperwork and insurance documentation
• Process co-pays and schedule patient appointments
• Coordinate provider referrals to assigned Specialist
• Perform preliminary physical test for vital signs and escalate critical cases to provider as needed
• Conduct point of care testing as needed (e.g., flu, strep, urinalysis, ECG, HCG)
• Stock supplies and maintain exam rooms, front desk, and reception area
• Answer phone calls, collect and sort daily mail
• Perform opening and closing duties

Requirements

• High School Diploma
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification (ARC or AHA)
• One of the specified Medical Assistant certifications OR Graduate of an Accredited School of Nursing/LPN/RN/EMT/CNA

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required
• Medical Assistant experience preferred; Front Desk experience preferred
