About This Role

The Certified Medical Assistant will support healthcare professionals and patients, working closely with doctors to provide direct patient care. Key responsibilities include updating medical records, administering medications, recording vital signs, and performing essential medical tests.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with patient examinations and treatment under physician guidance
  • Prepare and clean treatment rooms, maintaining high standards of cleanliness and stocking supplies
  • Guide patients from the waiting room and help them prepare for examination
  • Interview patients and update medical records, collecting detailed information
  • Record patient's vital signs (pulse, temperature, blood pressure, weight, height)
  • Prepare patients for exams, tests, procedures, and x-rays
  • Perform regular patient tests including electrocardiograms and collecting blood and urine samples
  • Administer routine medications and vaccinations as directed, monitoring for adverse reactions
  • Change sterile and non-sterile dressings and remove sutures and staples as needed

Requirements

  • Medical assistant certification from an accredited program
  • Clear understanding of medical administration safety procedures and standards
  • Knowledge of the five patient rights for medication administration
  • Ability to accurately document patient information abiding by organizational policies and regulatory standards
  • Ability to closely observe a patient's general physical condition and report abnormalities
  • Adept at administering injections and drawing blood
  • Understanding of medical terminology
  • Ability to foster trust and rapport with patients
  • Willingness and ability to follow instructions from doctors
  • Familiarity with medical charts and records
  • Keen eye for details

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Less than (1) one year of experience
