Patient Services Specialist 3 - Hematology and Oncology

About This Role

This advanced-level Patient Services Specialist role provides comprehensive administrative support in a physician office or clinic, handling complex tasks, resolving escalations, and assisting in staff training.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the hiring process and serve as a peer interviewer
• Perform patient relations, check-in/check-out, scheduling, insurance verification, and phone answering duties
• Handle complex tasks and respond to escalated issues
• Participate in process improvement initiatives, facilitate/lead team meetings, track metrics
• Mentor and train staff in processes and procedures, including applications and resources
• Monitor team members' training utilization and identify additional training needs
• Serve as backup supervisor, assisting with schedule management, task assignment, and work result follow-up
• Monitor and arrange for facility and equipment maintenance and repairs
• Perform quality assurance audits
• Order supplies as requested

Requirements

• H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
• 2 years of experience
• Excellent listening, interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills
• Knowledge of patient registration procedures and documentation
• Knowledge of medical insurance claims procedures and documentation, including Out of Network process
• Skilled in the use of personal computers and related software applications
• Ability to analyze unpaid third-party claims and delinquent accounts

Qualifications

• H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent
• 2 Years of Experience
