About This Role

This full-time Patient Care Tech II position assists patients of all age groups with comfort, daily living activities, clinical procedures, and safety needs. The role involves obtaining blood samples and maintaining departmental policies and infection control standards.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in meeting patient needs for all age groups (neonates, infant, children, adolescent, adult, and geriatric) in areas of comfort, activities of daily living, clinical procedures, transporting and safety
  • Obtain blood samples from patients according to established procedures and protocols
  • Communicate with team members about observations of patient's progress, needs and problems
  • Maintain departmental/hospital policies, procedures, objectives, Performance Improvement and Patient Safety, and infection control
  • Work as a member of a unit based, multidisciplinary patient care team
  • Demonstrate population-specific competencies (e.g. age-specific, cultural sensitivity, patient-centered communication) in performance of role

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year full-time experience performing phlebotomy functions or phlebotomy competence/certification, or equivalent experience in allied health professions requiring phlebotomy skills
  • Experience dealing with the public demonstrating excellent customer service skills
  • BCLS - Basic Life Support certification

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) Required, Related post-high school education (e.g., Unit Clerk, Medical Secretary, or related coursework) Preferred
  • 1 year full-time experience performing phlebotomy functions at Phlebotomy I or II level or phlebotomy competence/certification. Will also consider experience in other allied health professions requiring phlebotomy skills such as: LPHI or II, Paramedic, EMT or Certified Medical Assistant. Experience dealing with public demonstrating excellent customer service skills Required. 1 year direct care/lab experience Preferred. Direct Patient care experience such as Nursing Assistant, Dietetics Representative, Physical Therapy Aide, Phlebotomist, EKG Technician, etc. desired Preferred.

  • 1 year direct care/lab experience
