About This Role

Provide direct patient care and technical support to patients under the supervision of a Registered Nurse. Responsibilities include obtaining vital signs, assisting with daily activities, and performing delegated clinical and laboratory procedures to improve patient care services.

Responsibilities

  • Obtain vital signs, temperature, height/length, weight, oxygen saturation and pain scores; report abnormal values to RN
  • Observe, monitor and report the overt physical condition of assigned patient(s)
  • Measure and record intake and output
  • Assist patients with, or administer routine personal hygiene including baths, oral care, skin care
  • Perform preventative skin care, pre-operative preps, perineal care
  • Perform tube feedings of patients, at the direction of the RN
  • Perform intermittent sterile urinary catheterizations
  • Cleanse and redress non-sterile wounds
  • Assist with Endotracheal tube care and tape changes
  • Perform post-mortem care and transport deceased patients to the morgue/pathology
  • Stock supplies and equipment in patient care spaces
  • Set up patient rooms for admission or procedure

Requirements

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent
  • Ability to read and write
  • Junior status in an accredited BSN program OR 2nd year in accredited ADN program OR minimum 1-year recent experience in an unlicensed assistive role in a patient care setting OR completion of a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) program
  • Ability to perform a wide range of physical activities including moving, transporting, and positioning patients and equipment

Qualifications

  • High school diploma, GED or equivalent, and junior status in an accredited BSN program OR 2nd year in accredited ADN program OR a minimum 1-year recent experience in an unlicensed assistive role in a patient care setting OR completion of a Certified Nurse Assistant (CNA) program
  • 1+ year recent experience in an unlicensed assistive role in a patient care setting

Nice to Have

  • Completion of a Certified Nurse Aide or Certified Medical Assistant program
  • Basic computer skills
  • Course work in an Allied Health field
  • Excellent interpersonal communication
