About This Role

Serve as an Outpatient Access Representative for the Department of Psychiatry, acting as primary front-end operations support for clinics. Manage patient information processing for ambulatory care visits, including reception, registration, and scheduling, ensuring high-quality customer service.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients, verify identification, and direct them to their destination
  • Request patient identification and verify correctness using two identifiers
  • Update patients regarding waiting times every 15 minutes
  • Collect patient demographic and financial information and enter it into the electronic medical record
  • Assure completion of all appropriate forms by patients (e.g., Medicare Secondary Payer, HIPAA information)
  • Schedule new and return visits, preresgister patients, and coordinate ancillary testing or referrals
  • Answer phones, manage incoming clinic calls, and sort calls to various providers
  • Open and manage telephone encounters in eRecord and assure proper routing
  • Edit and correct registration errors and complete missing registration data
  • Manage multiple processes in eRecord, including messaging in In Basket and referral work queue processing

Requirements

  • High School diploma
  • 1 year related work experience in an administrative office or customer service field, or equivalent
  • Demonstrated ability to word process documents and enter data into a database
  • Demonstrated skills related to achievement of customer satisfaction

Qualifications

  • High School diploma required
  • 1 year related work experience in an administrative office or customer service field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Nice to Have

  • Medical terminology experience
  • Ability to act as a resource to less experienced staff
  • Knowledge of ASL or desire to learn ASL
