About This Role

This role involves processing patient information for ambulatory care visits, ensuring patient satisfaction, and performing accurate data entry for billing services. This position also acts as a resource for new staff.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients, verify identity, and direct them to their destination
  • Provide warm hand-off to registration and insurance management (RIM)
  • Update patients every 15 minutes regarding waiting times
  • Protect Personal Health Information (PHI) in compliance with HIPAA regulations
  • Ensure cleanliness and order in the waiting room/lobby
  • Collect patient demographic and financial information accurately
  • Enter information into the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and patient access/revenue cycle system
  • Schedule new and return ambulatory care visits, monitor schedules, and coordinate appointments
  • Collect patient co-pays, prepare end-of-day deposits, and reconcile discrepancies
  • Answer phone calls in a timely and courteous manner, manage incoming clinic calls, and sort calls to various providers
  • Manage multiple processes in EMR, including messaging in In Basket and referral work queue processing
  • Assess urgency of situations, determine appropriate routing for patients, and serve as a front-line problem solver

Requirements

  • High School diploma
  • 1 year related experience in an administrative office or customer service field OR completion of Vision Care 1,2,3 courses OR equivalent combination of education and experience

  • High School diploma and 1-year related experience in an administrative office or customer service field or completion of Vision Care 1,2,3 courses or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1 year related experience in an administrative office or customer service field

Nice to Have

  • Medical terminology experience
  • Demonstrated ability to word process documents and enter data into a database
  • Demonstrated skills related to achievement of customer satisfaction
