About This Role

This role involves processing patient information for ambulatory care visits, ensuring accurate registration, scheduling, and charge reconciliation. The Outpatient Access Rep II provides a positive patient experience while maintaining efficiency and customer-friendliness in all interactions.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients to initiate a positive ambulatory experience and verify patient identification using two identifiers
  • Collect patient demographic and financial information and enter it accurately into the electronic medical record (EMR)
  • Schedule new and return ambulatory care visits, monitor schedules, and coordinate appointments
  • Answer phones in a timely and courteous manner, manage incoming calls, and open/route telephone encounters in EMR
  • Edit and correct registration errors, assist in charge reconciliation, and manage multiple EMR processes
  • Assess urgency of situations, determine appropriate patient routing, and serve as a front-line problem solver
  • May escort patients to treatment corridors, collect basic visit documentation, and obtain vital signs

Qualifications

  • High School diploma and 1 year related experience in an administrative office or customer service field OR Completion of Vision Care 1,2,3 courses OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • 1 year related experience in an administrative office or customer service field

Nice to Have

  • Medical terminology experience
  • Demonstrated ability to word process documents and enter data into a database
  • Demonstrated skills related to achievement of customer satisfaction
