Outpatient Access Rep II

About This Role

The Outpatient Access Rep II performs patient information processing functions for ambulatory care, including reception, registration, scheduling, and eRecord task management. This role ensures patient satisfaction and accurate billing while acting as a resource to new staff.

Responsibilities

• Greet patients, verify identification, and direct them to their destination
• Collect and accurately enter patient demographic and financial information into the EMR and revenue cycle system
• Schedule new and return ambulatory care visits, coordinate ancillary testing or referrals, and manage missed appointments
• Answer phones, manage incoming clinic calls, and open/route telephone encounters in the EMR
• Edit and correct registration errors, complete missing data, and assist in charge reconciliation
• Assess urgent situations, determine appropriate routing, and resolve patient complaints
• May escort patients to treatment corridors, collect basic visit documentation, and obtain vital signs

Requirements

• High School diploma
• 1 year related experience in an administrative office or customer service field OR completion of Vision Care 1,2,3 courses

Qualifications

• High School diploma and 1 year related experience or completion of Vision Care 1,2,3 courses
• 1 year related experience in an administrative office or customer service field

Nice to Have

• Medical terminology experience
• Ability to word process documents and enter data into a database
• Demonstrated ICARE values to patient, families and staff
• Demonstrated skills related to achievement of customer satisfaction
• Ability to act as a resource to less experienced staff
