About This Role

This role is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of diesel-powered tractor-trailers to deliver products to customer locations. It involves performing pre and post-shift activities, conducting safety inspections, and interacting with customers.

Responsibilities

  • Perform assigned pre-shift activities, including reviewing work schedules and checking equipment
  • Conduct daily pre-trip, post-trip, and in-route safety inspections of the truck and trailers
  • Safely and legally operate the tractor-trailer, following all applicable laws and company policy
  • Complete required paperwork associated with freight, obtaining signatures and documentation
  • Effectively trip plan using maps, GPS, or verbal information for efficient and on-time delivery
  • Use an electronic log to record daily hours of service following FMCSA, state, and Company requirements
  • Load and secure cargo against movement and damage within the trailer, maintaining seal control
  • Load and unload freight at customer locations using electric pallet jacks or manually
  • Foster relationships with team members and store personnel
  • Perform needed post-shift activities, including coupling/uncoupling trucks and securing equipment

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, and communicate in English
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid FMCSA physical certification within 60 days
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid Class A CDL within 60 days
  • Valid driver's license with excellent driving history
  • Lifting requirement of 50 lbs
  • Ability to use a pallet jack
  • Ability to lower and raise loading gear, open and close cargo doors, and climb on/off vehicle safely
  • Capable of reading and understanding trip-related information and planning for the trip
  • Willingness to work varying shifts including over-night and early morning

Qualifications

  • 1 to up to 3 years of work experience; 2 years of verifiable tractor-trailer driving experience preferred
