Oncology Staff Nurse

About This Role

Provide direct and indirect nursing care to oncology patients, functioning as a healthcare team leader responsible for observation, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient-centered care.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct and indirect nursing care as a licensed Registered Nurse
• Function as a health care team leader responsible for safe delivery of patient-centered, goal oriented care
• Conduct nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation
• Direct and guide patient teaching and activities of ancillary personnel
• Maintain standards of professional nursing
• Provide coverage for North County satellite facility as needed

Requirements

• Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
• Thorough knowledge of nursing principles and procedures
• Currently licensed as an RN in Massachusetts
• Demonstrates continuing education in accordance with State regulations
• Assures compliance with unit-specific scope of practice
• Ability to speak English understandably
• Possess adequate sight/hearing senses (or prosthetics)
• 2 years of med/surg experience
• Demonstrated knowledge and guides practice according to ONS standards
• Demonstrated knowledge of procedure for administration of blood components
• Demonstrates knowledge of vascular anatomy
• Proficient in venipuncture skills
• Adept in the administration of chemotherapeutic agents with knowledge of adverse systemic reactions
• Ability to intervene appropriately for chemotherapeutic agents
• Demonstrates capability of sharing knowledge regarding oncology care and infusion therapy
• Acts as a resource for patients and peers
• Meet the physical requirements outlined in the job description

Qualifications

• Associate's Degree in Nursing. BSN preferred.
• 2 years med/surg experience required; oncology experience preferred.
