About This Role

The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) will implement treatment programs to assist pediatric patients with various disabilities and delays, administering occupational therapy in their homes and communities. This role focuses on improving patient independence and empowering caregivers through therapeutic activities.

Responsibilities

  • Provide high quality care and meet patient and family needs by implementing occupational therapy treatment plans in conjunction with the occupational therapist supervisor.
  • Assist pediatric and young adult patients in areas such as physical, neurological, cognitive, sensory, feeding, ADL's, and social/emotional development.
  • Participate in educating, coaching, and empowering caregivers and families to develop skills for carrying over therapeutic activities into the child's daily routine.
  • Assure continuation of the therapeutic plan following discharge by designing and instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs.
  • Document patient care services and care coordination in an electronic medical record system.
  • Maintain patient confidence by keeping information confidential.

Requirements

  • Texas State COTA license
  • Current CPR certification

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience preferred
