Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA)

About This Role

Implement treatment programs for pediatric patients with various disabilities, providing high-quality occupational therapy in home and community settings. Assist patients in developing independence and educate caregivers on therapeutic activities.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality care and meet the needs of the patient and family by implementing occupational therapy treatment plans in conjunction with the occupational therapist supervisor
• Assist pediatric and young adult patients in the areas of physical, neurological, cognitive, sensory, feeding, ADL’s, and social/emotional development and improve their level of independence by implementing skilled interventions to maximize the potential of each individual child
• Participate in educating, coaching, and empowering caregivers and families to develop skills to carry over therapeutic activities into the child's daily routine
• Assure continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing and instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs
• Document patient care services and care coordination in an intuitive electronic medical record system
• Maintain patient confidence by keeping information confidential

Requirements

• Texas State COTA license
• Current CPR certification

Qualifications

• A minimum of 1 yr. of experience preferred
