Occupational Therapist Assistant

About This Role

The Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant (COTA) implements treatment programs for pediatric patients with various disabilities or delays, planning and administering occupational therapy in the home and community.

Responsibilities

• Provide high quality care and meet the needs of the patient and family by implementing occupational therapy treatment plans in conjunction with the occupational therapist supervisor.
• Assist pediatric and young adult patients in the areas of physical, neurological, cognitive, sensory, feeding, ADL’s, and social/emotional development, implementing skilled interventions to maximize the potential of each individual child.
• Participate in educating, coaching, and empowering caregivers and families to develop skills to carry over therapeutic activities into the child's daily routine.
• Assure continuation of therapeutic plan following discharge by designing and instructing patients, families, and caregivers in home exercise programs.
• Document patient care services and care coordination in an intuitive electronic medical record system.
• Maintain patient confidence by keeping information confidential.

Requirements

• Texas State COTA license
• Current CPR certification

Qualifications

• 1+ year of experience preferred

Nice to Have

• A minimum of 1 year of experience preferred
